Jean Marie Fisher (Bell) - I am a proud 1982 graduate! I was
one of the piano accompanists, along with Clarissa Acuna, for the
choral program under Mr. Lee Lynn. I was a member of the chorus,
hand bells and flag unit. My fondest memories of the band consist of
band camps, practices, band 'geeks', adrenalin rushes at band comps,
homecoming games and taking music theory classes under
Rick. I believe I still remember some of the routine for "Malaguena"
and the trumpet soloist who ruled that song. I enjoyed music so
much, I continued into college as a music major at West Chester
University ('87). Currently, I am a music educator, teaching my 14th
year at Albritton Jr. High School, located on Fort Bragg, NC. I
teach 7th grade general music, 8th and 9th grade chorus and 9th
grade theory and composition. I am proud to mention that I just got
my Masters in Music Education from University of North Carolina
Pembroke in May 2006. I did my thesis and performance around
creativity and composition. I actually wrote my own theme and
variations using my own name! On the weekends, I am the senior
pianist at Arran Lake Baptist Church in Fayetteville, NC. As you can
see, music IS my life. Thanks to Rick, Lee and others along the way.
I married my hubby, Stephen, in June 1988. My eldest son, Jason (20),
just married in March to high school sweetheart, Jordan. Jason works
for NASA as a security guard at the Wallops Flight Facility near
Chincoteague, VA where Jordan is stationed in the coast guard. My
youngest son, Benjamin (17), a senior at Seventy First High School,
plays football as a punter and wide receiver. My hubby retired from the
army after 21 years in 1997 and now works as a civilian in the 18th
Airborne Corps as the Army Readiness Officer. He plays lots of golf when
he can on the weekends. P. S. I went blonde about 10 years ago and lovin'
every minute of it! Can't wait to see all of you at the
reunion! It'll be fun....you'll see! Musically yours, Jean

| Steve Gentile - My name is Steve Gentile, I was in Band w/ Swallow/ Bird, graduated in 1985. Drumline baby! Snare and quads. Band was life back then! I met my wife Carolyn at Penn State, we graduated and were married in 1990 and moved west to Montana. We currently live in Idaho, yes, beautiful Idaho! We have 5 kidlets: Daniel 13, Caleb 10, Sarah 7, Stephen 3 and Elizabeth 1. I've worked for the Forest Service, and currently teach Middle School(for the past 11 years). Band really paid off, because I teach high school percussion as well. Our drumline wins all the time - we model after the old Ridley drumline (but with less hazing!) I'm one year away from my Master's in Administration. Still playing, check out this little clip on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9q-Gq5VtbU Hope to see you all soon! |
Claire

Nursing just like I had always wanted to due. I have traveled as a
research nurse and tried many types of Nursing. I am married and the
proud mother of two lovely children. Claire jr. (age 25) and Joshua (age
21). I became a grandmother 18 months ago of a great litlle boy and I am
enjoying every minute of it. I pick up my clarinet every Holiday just
for fun. The years sure have gone by and I look forward to seeing
everyone!--Claire (Dizzy) |

I've been working in Quality Monitoring and Improvement @ Taylor
Hospital for almost 18 years. Funny thing, my daughter was a flag
twirler in Ridley Middle School! I too cannot wait to see all my band
and band front friends from the 70's! See you all at the reunion!! |

Harper - A 1973 graduate, I was one of (2) Trombones in Swallow's
first year, 1972. All my best memories of High School are Band related
whether they be concerts, rehearsals, football games or the friends who
helped make them. After HS I attended the New School of Music for (1)
semester which is all it took for me to realize classical performance
was not for me. I then was recruited to join a Disco Band (don't laugh,
I made money playing trombone) performing in Philadelphia, DelCo and S.
Jersey. I was introduced to Dr. Donald Reinhardt, a "Brass Instrument
Specialist" who taught many brass players when they came through Philly
from gigs with Maynard, Buddy Rich, The Tonight Show etc. If you were at
"Phil's Bongo Room" in Avalon during the summer of '76 you saw me, we
played opposite "The Greaseband". Also played the Brandywine Club for a
(1) year booking. Performed professionally for 3.5 years, great fun!
Finally got a real job and got married... got divorced (no kids... that
I know of) and did some real estate investing/developing. I've been
involved in commercial construction for (10) years and am currently a
project manager with a construction management firm. Having never
allowed school to interfere with my education, I try and learn something
new every day. Am learning to sail!!!! |
Scott
Hegman - Hey all, this is Scott Hegman. I played trombone in the
band and graduated in 1979. I went to West Chester State College for
Elementary Education but I was also part of The Golden Rams Marching
Band all four years. At West Chester I switched to playing the
mellophone. I graduated from West Chester in May 1983 with my BS in
Elementary Education. After a few years of teaching in private
Christian School I started working at Lakeview Elementary right back
here in Ridley. In 1990 I received my MS in Elementary Education
from West Chester. I didn't play my trombone much but eventually
started to direct my church choir at Woodlyn Baptist Church. In June
of 1992 I married my beautiful wife Carol. I also became dad to
Sarah (12 yrs.) and Lizzy (10 yrs.). It was at this time we moved to
our current residence in Wallingford. In September of 1995 our
daughter Kalli was born. Kalli is a very special little girl who
changed our lives. Kalli has Down Syndrome. Parenting a child with
special needs may be a little more difficult at times but it is full
of blessings I would never exchange for "easy". In the summer of
2000 I took the trombone out of mothballs, started practicing and
went to Australia with the Delaware Valley Stage Band under the
direction of Dr. Bonnie Strang. I became a grandfather in 2004 with
the birth of Emme Hope. I am still teaching at Lakeview and I am
looking forward to the reunion. See ya there. |
Farkel
Hollis - After high school, I bummed around Europe for a while
picking up a gig here and there but mostly just bumming around. Then I
got serious and I toured the world, Dude. Played with the best of the
best. All kinds of music. Doobies, Bowie, Rush, Allman Brothers. Life
was good. I've spent the last few years in deep meditation trying to
reach the ultimate "Ing". Not sure exactly what it feels like to hit
that level, but it does spark a memory of youth. Anyway, it's been years
since I was back in the old home town and I'm looking forward to see you
all. By the way, that's me on horn in the picture. See you all in
October. |
Kathy
Kapaun (Andrejko) - Hi, Everybody. I graduated in 1979 and
played the flute in band. It was one of my favorite things about
high school, and I have lots of great memories of the concerts, the
football games, the competitions, the trips we took, the fun we had
at band camp, and all the friends I made. It's amazing to look at
the photos that have been posted--I still remember a lot of the
people I was in band with even though it's been a long time since
I've seen most of them. This reunion will be a great opportunity to
see some long-lost friends. I've been married to my husband, Marty,
for 22 years, and we have a son, Paul. He is a freshman at Penn
State this year, and ("Proud Mom moment" here) he plays the trumpet
in the Blue Band there. We live in Downingtown, and I work as a
dental hygienist. I still play my flute as part of a guitar group
at St. Elizabeth church, so it really was worth spending
all that time practicing! See you in October.

Stephanie Kibby (Mason)
- HI! I am a graduate of the class of 1997....probably the last class to
have had Mr. Swallow as an instructor...he was great! I remember my
first year in band...well actually colorguard...what a whirlwind! I
think my favorite show was Dance Macabre...the music was awesome! I
still have the cd! lol My time in band were some of the best memories
and friends that I have made. I will never forget the uncontrollable
laughter that seemed to accompany many of our band 'outings'. My sister
Allison Kibby was drum major this year, and I enjoyed being there to see
her shine in the Ridley Raider Band, it brought back soo many
memories......Anywho.....I am a proud mamma to my son Zachary (7 going
on 17).....I am newly divorced.. woohoo! I am a former retail manager,
amongst other things, now I enjoy spending time with my son...and my
hobbies ;) live in Ridley Park with my son and boyfriend, PJ Dolan. PJ
owns and operates Dolans Bar in downtown Ridley Park, stop in and see us
sometime! |
| Peter Lebischak - After graduating in 1975, I went on to the Philadelphia College for Performing Arts (now University of the Arts) as a percussion major. While I was there, I began doing orchestrations for original musicals for the Philadelphia Company, Villanova University, and even saw one of those efforts go off Broadway (not for long). I also spent some time as the drum-line instructor for the Villanova University marching band. I played in a few bar bands after that, and then I put the sticks and the manuscript paper down somewhere around 1982 or 1983 and haven’t touched them since. Regrets? I have a few, but then again, too few to mention. I can also say that I was involved with the RRB as a student, instructor, and parent. I just couldn’t get enough. Anyway…I decided to dedicate my life to useless trivia and pop culture knowledge, which has provided me with absolutely nothing to brag about. So, with no real background to speak of, and little more than absolute BS, I find myself today as a software application consultant in the field of International Banking…go figure. Let this be a lesson to you all – put your money in your mattress. I have two wonderful daughters, and one truly awesome grandson. I hope to be there in October, but sometimes planning that far in advance is a challenge. If I don’t make it….someone please have a drink for me. |

Robin
Lumb - Class of ’75, flute. Although I haven’t picked my flute up in
too many years (sorry, Rick!) I have very fond memories of my friends
from band and band camp. I think that, if I can remember some of the
notes on my flute, I’ll even join the Alumni Band! Thoughts of the
reunion have also rekindled an interest to take drumming lessons (yo,
Pete Lebischak, let’s discuss a fee!). Music has remained an interest in
my life, though, as I love most types (I can skip country and rap). My
favorite recent musical moment was recently when WXPN, 88.5 FM, counted
down 885 all-time favorite songs. I was in my car when the 1812 Overture
came on, and I was also in my car when a Sousa march played—let’s just
say the folks near me got their ears blasted off (pretty humorous coming
from a Mini Cooper) and a funny view of my reaction to the music. All
those years of flute lessons and band practice came flooding back in one
fell swoop! For 25 years after school, I worked in the legal field, as a
secretary/paralegal and in the computer area as a help desk technician.
For the last couple of years, I have, with the help of my other half,
Steven Rosenberg, started a small crafts business, focusing mainly on
handbags, carry-alls and evening bags made from old jeans and bras (see
www.sewitisltd.com to see what I mean!). Steven and I have no children,
but do have 4 cats (not the one in the photo, though) who are very
spoiled by all the fun, catty things to do in our house. Looking forward
to seeing everyone in October!! |
